Dora Award Winning artist, Alexa Belgrave, has been an active member of Toronto’s music community for almost a decade. Upon completing her ARCT in high school and a degree in jazz piano studies at UofT, she has engaged in a wealth of musical roles spanning across multiple diverse genres with groups such as Moodset, TUSH, INKLOOSIV Voices, Queer Songbook Orchestra, and performers Lydia Persaud, Sammy Jackson, Shakura Saida and more. As a musical director, she has collaborated with theatre companies including Obsidian Theatre Company (Playwrights showcase), the Musical Stage Company (One song Glory program), Nightwood Theatre (World goes round, Urinetown, Sound of Music), Bad Hats Theatre (New Bad Ideas, Narnia) and more. In June 2024 her Band Moodset was a part of the Toronto Jazz fest lineup and in August 2022 she was chosen to be featured in Jazz Fm’s Women in Jazz series, showcasing (live to air) her music and band to great reception. Alexa also had the privilege of joining The Legendary Blues Cruise November 2022 lineup as the pianist for the Nina Simone Project musical by Shakura S’Aida as well as be apart of a Dora Award winning dance production ‘Young Gifted and Jazz’ with Dance Immersion and Hola Jazz in July 2023. You can hear her on keys on her band’s debut album “Let’s Talk” released in March 2024, throughout Tush's debut album "FANTAST", as well as the Cy Young’s EP ‘Wakeup Call’.  Alexa currently teaches at Sheridan College, Randolph College for the Performing Arts and Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts as well as freelancing around the GTA in her various musical roles.
